Mt. Sterling

Mt. Sterling, Wisconsin

In 1852, William T. Sterling, who served in the Wisconsin State Assembly, platted the Village of Mt Sterling Wisconsin. The Village is noted for its history of cheese making. It was the home of Ronald E. Johnson, World Cheddar Cheese Champion in 1958; and is the current home of Mt. Sterling Co-op Creamery, which specializes in goat cheese. Located on the summit between the Mississippi and Kickapoo Rivers, Mt Sterling offers a splendid view of the river valleys.
