La Crosse

La Crosse, Wisconsin

La Crosse County lies just across the border from Vernon County and is home to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the shrine sits majestically against a natural woodland backdrop in the midst of the coulee region. The city, located just 6 miles away on the Mississippi River, features many shopping, dining and recreational opportunities.

The historic downtown district sits on the river with a river walk and paddle wheeler that you can take a tour on, docked in Riverside Park. From on top of Grandad bluff, overlooking the city, you can see Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa on a clear day. The Hixon Trails are a great way to discover the Bluffs (hiking or mountain biking) and the Lake Onalaska Canoe Trail can take you through the Mississippi backwaters.
