VIVA Gallery 1st Thursday Guest Artist Reception
Mosaic Artist Miriam Sushman is the August Guest Artist at VIVA Gallery. She has a passion for the art of mosaics that was first ignited by the discovery of a book about mosaics in the Milwaukee Public Library. From that first exposure, Miriam learned to work with a variety of mosaic methods and materials. She has led community projects and has taught both children and adults in her home studio in Milwaukee. Before developing her passion for creating mosaic art, Miriam worked as a photojournalist in the USA and Israel.
Miriam will be demonstrating her work process with mosaics at VIVA on August 7th. Her mosaics contain a mixture of stained glass, china, beads, and found objects. Inspirations come from the seasons and her gardens, inside and out. Her work is influenced by her graphic design and drawing background. Her enthusiasm for this artwork includes the many possibilities of combining different materials and methods
