Birds of Prey Day – Second Nature at Reads Creek

Want to see some raptors up close?

Join us for two exciting presentations about birds of prey. Starting at 11am, we will have WDNR Wildlife Biologist Dan Goltz at the nursery to talk about eagle surveys. He will discuss his work with eagles in Vernon and Crawford counties, including health issues, monitoring projects, food items and nest characteristics. This presentation is geared for the older kids and adults of all ages.

Then at 1pm, and back by popular demand, we will have River Valley Raptors on the gift shop steps for a live meet and greet with several of the raptors they care for. People of all ages loved this interactive presentation last year. You will learn all about the unique features of the birds, and have a chance to take photos with the birds at the end. We will also have Papa’s BBQ and Udder Brothers Creamery on site for lunch and a tasty treat!

WHAT TO BRING: Due to the large turnout last year, we encourage you to bring a folding chair if you can. We will have room on the gift shop steps, and have some picnic tables, but last year was standing room only! Bring your swimsuits and swim in the creek when we are done, and enjoy some time in the greenhouse, nursery grounds and gift shop while the kids play in the sand. Make a day of it!

This event is sponsored by Second Nature at Reads Creek and we will pass the hat to help River Valley Raptors build another enclosure for their birds!

We would appreciate if you could sign up online so we can plan ahead for how many people are coming!
