Jones’ Black Angus

Talk to any Wisconsinite and they’ll likely have childhood memories of special events celebrated at a Supper Club. Someone at the candlelit table probably ordered the prime rib, and Brandy Old Fashions were certainly served. Jones’ Black Angus in Prairie du Chien gives you the perfect Wisconsin Supper Club experience.

Where to begin? Supper Clubs are known for their prime rib, their full service bars, Friday Fish Fries and salad bars. Take advantage of the experience and be sure to test out at least two things from that list.

Great River Roadhouse

Oh, the view! Like the name suggests, The Great River Roadhouse is on the Great River Road, just a little North of De Soto, overlooking the Mississippi River. The pizza is glorious. The crust, sauce, and the Italian Sausage are made fresh right in the kitchen. Even the veggie toppings are fresh cut on site.

Where to begin? Keep in mind the pizza portions are huge. If it’s just the two of you, the Medium might be too big. But, leftover pizza to take home is never really an issue is it?

Borgen’s Cafe

A casual eatery with a Norwegian flair. Borgen’s Cafe in Westby is a family restaurant where care and consideration is put into the dishes placed at the table. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a buffet that is highly rated. Borgen’s keeps it local for the Driftless Foodie, and serves Wisconsin beer and wines.

Where to begin? Try the lefse. Save room for dessert. Enough said.

The Barn

You would expect a restaurant with such a name to have a certain rustic familiar shape and to serve down home American food. You will not be disappointed. The Barn in Prairie du Chien is very spacious (and it’s ok if you’re tempted to explore a little), but you’ll be surprised how they manage to keep a cozy atmosphere at your table.

Where to begin? Friday nights in Wisconsin is all about the Fish Fry and The Barn has all you can eat Atlantic Cod – lightly breaded, beer battered, or broiled – however you like it. Served with a side, soup and salad bar to round out your Wisconsin dining experiences as a Driftless Foodie.
